Venis Surgery

Vein surgery is typically performed to treat varicose veins, spider veins, or other venous disorders.

Vein surgery is typically performed to treat varicose veins, spider veins, or other venous disorders. The goal is to improve blood flow, relieve symptoms, and enhance the appearance of the legs. There are several types of vein surgery, depending on the severity of the condition:

1. Minimally Invasive Procedures

These are the most common treatments today, requiring little to no downtime.

  • Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) / Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
  • Uses laser or radiofrequency energy to heat and close off the affected vein.
  • Performed under local anesthesia with minimal recovery time.
  • Sclerotherapy
  • A liquid or foam solution is injected into the vein to make it collapse and eventually disappear.
  • Common for spider veins and small varicose veins.
  • VenaSeal (Medical Adhesive)
  • A medical glue is used to seal the vein shut.
  • No need for compression stockings post-procedure.

2. Surgical Procedures

These are done for more severe vein problems.

  • Vein Stripping and Ligation
  • The affected vein is tied off and removed through small incisions.
  • Usually done under general or spinal anesthesia.
  • Ambulatory Phlebectomy
  • Small incisions are made to remove varicose veins close to the skin.
  • Performed under local anesthesia.

Recovery & Aftercare

  • Most minimally invasive procedures allow patients to walk immediately.
  • Compression stockings may be required for a few weeks.
  • Avoid heavy lifting and prolonged standing for some time.
  • Some bruising and swelling are normal but subside within weeks.
